Artlist
The stock music and footage giant turned AI studio: images, video, voiceover and music with 100+ models and its own Artlist Original 1.0, all under one commercial licence. A free mini-course.
What it nails
- AI plus a huge stock music and footage library
- Commercial licence; AI outputs stay yours
- Own Artlist Original 1.0 cinematic model
Watch out for
- Monthly credits don't carry over; top-ups expire in 30 days
Artlist began as a stock music and footage library for filmmakers and now blends it with generative AI: image, video, voiceover and music in one AI Toolkit with "100+ models", including Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0, Seedance 2.5, Nano Banana 2, GPT Image 2.5, ElevenLabs and its own Artlist Original 1.0, "trained on Artlist's catalog of high-quality, cinematic footage". Artlist reported $260M in yearly revenue for 2025 and more than 50 million creators.
Start here: the basics
- Open the AI Toolkit on artlist.io and choose Image, Video, Voiceover or Music.
- Pick a model, or Artlist Original 1.0 for a cinematic photo look.
- Structure the prompt: "subject, composition and framing, action, location, style, and editing instructions."
- Speak like a camera operator: "Instead of 'blurry background,' try '85mm prime lens, f/1.8 aperture.'"
Lesson: light is the whole picture
Artlist's lighting guide: "Describing light early in your prompt directions leads to better, more final results later", and "One lighting idea works better than several mixed ones." Same scene, before and after:
A portrait of a young musician alone in an empty rehearsal space after hours, instrument case on the floor, scuffed walls, and cables in the background, intimate framing, shallow depth of field, realistic skin texture.

Power moves
1. Text and design in one prompt
Put the exact words in quotes and say the typeface and position.
Male-presenting dancer in his mid-20s with a shaved fade, wearing a red windbreaker. 9:16 portrait, low-angle medium shot, 35mm lens look. Dancing mid-motion under a flickering streetlight in a narrow alley at night. High-contrast neon reflections, gritty film texture. Add the text 'NIGHT SHIFT' in bold white condensed type at the bottom.

Create a technically accurate, labeled cross-section diagram of a modern full-frame mirrorless camera sensor. Show distinct layers from front to back: cover glass, micro-lens array, color filter array (RGB Bayer), photodiodes, wiring layer, and sensor substrate. Use a flat, modern vector illustration style with clean lines and no textures. Labels in black sans-serif text with leader lines. 16:9 horizontal infographic layout with generous margins and clear visual hierarchy.

2. Treat a prompt like a production brief
"Treat lighting and camera direction like a real production": who, framing, lens, action, location, grade and finishing touches.
A street photographer, mid-30s, male-presenting, olive skin, salt-and-pepper hair, wearing a worn leather jacket and grey beanie, holding a vintage Leica, wide 16:9, three-quarter length, low-angle shot, subject at left third, shallow depth of field, city skyline softly out of focus. He is mid-stride, stepping off a curb, adjusting his camera strap while looking toward the sun. The environment is a rainslick cobblestone alley at golden hour, with warm backlight and neon café signs reflected in puddles. Style is modern Kodak Portra film look, cinematic contrast, muted teal-and-amber color grade, clean editorial style. Add realistic film grain, slight lens flare from backlight, remove small blemishes, and preserve natural skin texture.

A colossal, brilliantly hued balloon majestically floats above an expansive, barren desert expanse. Its immense size commands the composition, with vibrant colors sharply contrasting against the tranquil, sun-drenched sandy terrain. This cinematic perspective emphasizes the balloon's grandeur as it casts a dramatic, oversized shadow that stretches across the desolate landscape. The interplay of natural light and soft environmental textures creates a striking visual harmony that captivates the viewer's attention.

3. Edit with references
Upload a photo and describe the change. With several references, give each a job: "Use Image A for the subject's face, Image B for the illustration style, and Image C for the forest environment."

Artlist wins when you also need licensed stock music, footage and sound effects. For AI pictures and clips alone, the Lab's Image studio charges per run, with credits that never expire.
On Trustpilot (read 25 September 2026) Artlist scores 3.2 from 2,680 reviews; common complaints are credits running out fast, surprise annual charges and the 14-day refund window. Artlist's own guide notes that small text, fine detail and diagram facts still need checking.
